Gaana.com Releases Latest HTML5 Web Application For iPad
Posted by iunlock on Tuesday Sep 13, 2011 Under UncategorizedAre you familiar with the website Gaana.com? Well this is an online Indian music site which was previously made available only through browsers that have flash capacity. They recently have launched a nice HTML5 web application for iPad. It comes with an amazing catalogue of music coming from the Bollywood genre and the Indipop music line. It also offers several international music as well. The purpose of the service is to fill in the void of what’s absent in the services of Spotify and Pandora made in India.
At present, the site has a user base that reaches about 1.4 million when it comes to its listeners. They still have plans of increasing this number with the launch of their web application through iPad. Just like the flash version, this web app is packed with all the standard features like easy searching, playlists which you can personalize, recommended tracks, your favorites, and of course the top songs. This service will let you have an account just via your Facebook account or via your Twitter. This can also allow you to save various playlists and listen to them even in your other devices.
It can also play music as your background due to the audio feature supported by Safari. However the only drawback is that it can be a bit buggy and can cause severe interruptions at times. But the site tries its best to fill in the gap between the apps that are based on what’s native and on the web just like what Amazon tried to handle the Kindle Cloud Reader.
The Times Internet Limited is the company who will work behind the Gaana.com and they are the ones who have plans to make this web application available for all possible tablet devices soon. At present, the application works only for iPad. For those who have an iPad and would like to listen to the music offered by this site straight on your phone, then you just have to research on the steps to do that. You have got to have a third party browser that will let you fake the user agent to an iPad to fool the site into loading it tight into your iPhone.
The app that you can use to change the user agent is the iCab Mobile through the browser ID option in the settings. This is for you to be able to load the web application right on the iPhone. With the interface optimized for iPad, the experience you get on your small screen may not be all that smooth but its feature of background playback is just as great.
