Apple’s A6 Chip From Samsung?

Posted by unlocker under News on Friday Nov 11, 2011

Samsung may supply the A6 processor chips for iPhone 5.
The patent battle between two tech giants and rivals Apple Inc. and Samsung all over the world does not seems to affect the symbiotic relationship between the two companies.
According to a report from Korea Times, Korea-based company Samsung will continue to supply processors for iOS devices to Apple. This report contradicts the initial statement of Taiwan-based electronics company Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, saying that they will be supplying A6 chip processors to Apple.
According to Korea Times, Apple has been discussing with Samsung regarding the shipment of A6 quadcore mobile processors that will be used to the next generation of iPhone. It seems that Samsung and Apple still holds a critical business partnership. Apple is Samsung’s biggest buyer of some parts used in their devices. Samsung, on the other hand, supplies high-end and high quality materials and electronics to Apple.
What is the meaning of the 60 employees of T.S.M.C. from Taiwan who traveled to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.
According to an official report released by the company, T.S.M.C. will supply a small quantity of customized chips with designs to Apple. The manufacturing of the chips is not yet finalized due to Apple’s previous patterns of adopting qualified technologies. The iDevice company is not taking risks and Samsung offers better price and capacity commitment for the A6 mobile processors.
It seems that Apple is looking into T.S.M.C. to be an alternative supplier to the company apart from Samsung – which is the primary supplier of chip processors to various iOS devices. However, T.S.M.C. was unable to deliver.
The news that were published the last few days showed how awkward the relationship between the two companies. There are reports that said that Samsung’s president and COO was invited to Apple’s ex-chief Steve Jobs’ memorial. However, other reports also expound on the patent cases filed by Samsung against Apple in Japan and Australia.
Samsung’s COO said in a correspondence with Wall Street Journal that Apple remains to be one of the most important clients of Samsung. However, the solid business partnership is a different issue on their legal battles and areas where they are rivals.
Over time, it seems that Apple will be decreasing its dependence on Samsung as a supplier of device components. Apple is also working on reducing their dependence on Google for iOS software.

Unlocked iPhone 4S Available Already?

Posted by unlocker under News on Friday Nov 11, 2011

There is a rumor that says that some Apple stores in the United States offer unlocked and contract-free iPhone 4S.

According to the fine print in the Apple’s website, the unlocked and contract free iPhone 4S were supposed to be available in November.

However, according to the report of the 9 to 5 Mac, Apple is already selling contract-free GSM iPhone 4S that is already unlocked from AT&T network. 9 to 5 Mac reports that Steve Thoughton-Smith confirmed the existence of unlocked and contract-free iPhone 4S and he bought a model.

Steve Thoughton-Smith is an iPhone developer and hacker that was able to equip iPhone 4 a Siri feature, which Apple said that will be an exclusive feature of the iPhone 4S.
It’s All Tech also confirmed the existence of contract-free iPhone 4S. According to their report, the off-contract iPhone 4S was unlocked and they were able to put a T-mobile SIM and it worked and experienced no trouble on it.
The writer in It’s All Tech bought contract-free iPhone 4S and he plugged into iTunes and he got a message that the iPhone 4S is unlocked.
The price of iPhone 4S are $649, $749 and $849 for the 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, respectively.
John Gruber of Daring Fireball has confirmed that the Sprint iPhone 4S comes with GSM micro-SIM that is unlocked. Gruber reported that he was able to use a Canadian card in the Sprint iPhone 4S. This report is in line with the Sprint’s report. However, Sprint is planning to release a carrier update that will soon lock the GSM micro-SIM card slot.
iPhone 4S is the latest addition to Apple’s line of gadgets. It is currently a big hit in the US, UK and Australia where it was released initially. iPhone 4S carriers, Sprint, AT&T and Verizon Wireless, reported that they sold out the iPhone 4S units when they conducted a pre-sale. However, none of them released any figures of how many units they sold.

iPhone 4S comes with new and exciting features. It is already pre-installed and comes with the new mobile operating software, the iOS 5 – which was released last October 12 along with the iCloud. It also comes with Siri, which is the voice controlled system of the new handset. The iPhone 4S also comes with an 8-megapixel camera and fixed antennae, which was the initial problem of the iPhone 4.

Experts said that the iPhone 4S broke the sales record held by iPad 2 when it was released. iPhone 4S now is the highest selling gadget of Apple due to a huge demand on the product. This huge demand on the product was attributed to the new features of the iPhone 4S as well as to the untimely death of Apple co-founder and ex-chief Steve Jobs.

iPhone 4S hit the market last October 14.
