iPhone 5 could be sporting a new 4-inch display screen and a unibody case.
This is the findings of an analyst at Topeka Capital Market Brian White research based on his trip to Asia that aimed to find out the new specs and features of iPhone 5.
According to Brian White, “In our view, this will be the most significant iPhone upgrade with a four-inch screen and a new, sleek look that we believe will require a Unibody case. This new, sleek look will be the most important reason that consumers decide to upgrade to the iPhone 5, while we believe the addition of 4G will also attract buyers of the new device.”
Brian White added that suppliers from Asia such as Foxconn in China are rushing the production of the supplies in June, just in time for the August-September launch of the device.
Some of the highlights of White’s report are:
- Display issues have caused a bit of a bottleneck on supplies of the new iPad, but the shortages seem to be easing. Any small constraints on March quarter sales numbers would be compensated for by a boost to June quarter sales.
- Suppliers suggest that a smaller “iPad mini” is still in the works, but launch timing remains unknown.
- While the new iPad is not yet officially available in China, some resellers are already carrying the device. Speculation is pointing to a potential May release for the new iPad in China, although evidence for that timeframe beyond a recent regulatory approval appears scant.
There have been a lot of rumors about the new iPhone 5 such as it will be equipped with a variant of A5X chip, 1GB RAM in iPhone 4S/iPhone 4 casing.

Tech website AppleInsider reported that’s a Foxconn recruiter said that Apple’s iPhone 5 will be released in June.
Foxconn is the largest manufacturing partner of Apple that is based in China. According to the report, the source said the probable release of the upcoming generation of iPhone during a program on TV Tokyo’s “World Business Satellite” show. There is a footage taken from the Foxconn’s recruitment office where the interview was conducted.
Foxconn is looking to hire more employees this month. The interviewer asked the Foxconn recruiter of how many employees the factory is looking to hire. The recruiter answered that Foxconn is looking for 18,000 more employees to work on the fifth generation of iPhone. This is followed with a statement that the factory is in need of more employees due to the overwhelming demand for iPhone 5 and because it will come out in June.
The recruiter used both iPhone 5 and fifth generation of iPhone during the courses of the interview. However, technically, iPhone 5 is the sixth generation of iPhone. But just the fact that the recruiter said that it will be coming out in June highly suggests that the recruiter means the sixth generation of iPhone.
The new iPhone and iPhone 5 are some of the monikers that are prevalent as to the namesake for the new iOS device. However, a lot of people are skeptical that the Cupertino-based company will be launching another version of iPhone after a year since the release of iPhone 4S, which is still making immense sales. Moreover, the source is not that credible.
According to the rumors, iPhone 5 will be released in the fall of 2012, which will sport the same screen size; support 4G LTE like the new iPad 3 and will come with a new micro dock connector.
