iPhone 5 Prototype With Slide-Out Keyboard by Apple?

People from Apple.pro reported that Apple is working on three prototypes for the next generation of iPhone and they claimed that one of the prototypes contains a slide-out keyboard.

June is the anticipated release date of iPhone 5 and three months prior to the release, there are rumors that tell that Apple built the iPhone 5 on three hardware prototypes.

The Taiwanese site Apple.pro has a strong track record when it comes to news about what is the latest from Apple. They reported that: “There are three iPhone5 prototype one is a sliding cover which is the introduction of the keyboard after the side cover.”

As previously mentioned, the first prototype has a slide-out keyboard. Limited information was released about the iPhone 5 with slide-out keyboard. It seems that the virtual keyboard is not enoughs for some consumers and that there is a demand for a physical keyboard. Apple.pro said that the second prototype of iPhone 5 is an upgraded version of the iPhone 4, with upgraded battery and an 8-megapixel camera compared to iPhone 4’s 5-megapixel camera and with no major physical change just like the transition from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS.

However, if you are a long time user of iPhone and its virtual, touch screen keyboard, you may find the slide-out keyboard unnecessary. However, some people insist that its one of deal breakers. It is something new and interesting when Apple released an iPhone with a slide-out keyboard.

Is it really possible that iPhone will finally release a handset with a physical keyboard? Do you miss a physical keyboard in iPhones?

FaceTime on iPad

Posted by unlocker under News, iPad on Tuesday Feb 22, 2011

One of the requested features in the next generation iPad and there are rumors that the second generation of iPad will have a front and rear facing camera. Despite the lack of camera did not stop a hacker to figure out a way to enable FaceTime, which is the video calling feature of Apple introduced in iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G on the iPad.

Hacker “Intell” has managed to install iPod Touch 4G’s FaceTime app on the iPad. 9to5Mac who were the first to report the hack explain:

“The several step process is noted to be risky, but the end result (video above) is very cool and seems to work as advertised. The hack installs the iPod touch 4 FaceTime application on the iPad, with a full-screen, optimized user interface. This interface looks very similar to that of the FaceTime application on the iPod touch, but does leverage iPad-specific user interface elements, like the silver navigation bar at the top.

The calls, of course, will only work if you are connected to a WiFi network, and as shown in the video above, the quality seems relative to the FaceTime video quality you see on the iPhone, iPod touch, and Mac today. This quality of course is that of the person on the other end of the FaceTime video call. Although the iPad user will not be shown due to the lack of a camera, the audio still works and the mute button is present, too.”

It is quite interesting to see how Apple optimizes the FaceTime interface for the iPad.
