Steps in Transferring Data from Previous iPhone to the New iPhone 4S
Posted by unlocker on Monday Oct 24, 2011 Under NewsThere are important things that you need to know before you upgrade your Apple devices to iOS 5. Apple just released their new mobile operating system, the new iOS 5, loaded with over 200 amazing features.
Apple launched the new iOS 5 and iCloud last October 12. Moreover, the new iPhone 4S hit the market last Friday. A lot of people are trying to get their hands on the new Apple handset.
If you are transferring the content of your old iPhone to the new iPhone 4S, here are the easy steps that you must do to have a worry-free transferring of files.
Step 1: Make sure that you downloaded the latest version of iTunes or the iTunes 10.5.
Step 2: Connect and sync in your iPhone to the iTunes. It is important that your iPhone is backed up to avoid loss of pertinent data and information.
Step 3: iTunes will redirect you and ask if you want to restore from a back up or to set up a new phone. Choose the backup of your current iPhone. If you are not redirected, select a backup to restore previous iOS on your new phone and try again. During this process, you will see the iTunes’ progress bar. If this happens, allow ample time for the completion of the upgrade.
Step 4: After you selected back up on your new iPhone 4S, your iPhone will restart.
Step 5: Select the iTunes window when it appears after your iPhone restarted.
Step 6: Click on the tabs that you want to sync such as music, photos, etc.
Step 7: Click on “apply” to sync your new iPhone with iTunes.
Step 8: Check if your saved messages, email accounts, passwords, photos, notes, and other personal settings are present on your new iPhone. Your formatted device will ask you to enter your email account and voicemail passwords again. If you fail to remember your voicemail password, you can reset it.
If you are unable to see your saved messages, email accounts, passwords, photos, notes, and other personal settings in your new iPhone, the restore from backup process in Step 2 may not be successful. Thus, you need to verify your current iPhone is properly backed-up and use iTunes to restore your previous iOS and repeat the whole process.
The aforementioned steps are also applicable if you are planning to switch from an older iPhone to a newer generation and version of iPhone such as iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4.
It is better to update your current iDevice to the latest version of mobile operating system, which is the iOS 5, so that you will not hit with any compatibility issues when you transferred data using the step-by-step process as the new iPhone 4S will come with a pre-installed iOS 5.
Another way to easily transfer data from your current iPhone to the new iPhone 4S is through the iCloud, which was launched yesterday. However, using the iCloud consumes more time than usual compared to the manual process.
