Google proudly released a newer version of Google Voice App for iPod Touch and iPad and includes some significant improvements that add beauty and function in the application. Google released the version of Google Voice Application for iPhone last month. Now, iPad and iPod Touch users will be able to send and receive text messages. Users cannot make calls with the iOS application; however, Google Voice application comes with a feature called Click2Call to allow iPad and iPod Touch users to make Google voice calls through their devices.

The product manager of Google, Marcus Foster, explains how the feature Click2Call feature works. He said, “Simply click any ‘Call’ button in the Google Voice app on your iPod or iPad and then select which of your phones you want to ring. Google Voice will call your phone and then connect your call.”

Some of the improvements in the newer version of the Google Voice Application are:

When you enable Push Notifications, we will automatically disable Text forwarding for you, so you won’t receive multiple notifications.

Want some quiet time? You can send all callers straight to voicemail by turning on Do not disturb in the Settings tab.

We made it easier for you to place calls from the address book by adding a dedicated Contacts button to the Dialer tab.

Sending text messages is now more streamlined since you don’t need to press the OK button anymore.

Bonus Tip: Tap and hold messages in your inbox to archive or delete them.

You can simply download the official Google Voice application for free from the App Store.

iPhone 4 users are clamoring against Apple’s fixed proximity sensor issue. According to the iOS 4.1 release notes, the “super-sensitive” proximity sensor on iPhone 4 made calls to be unintentionally dialed, hung up or muted without the user’s content. It appeared that the iOS 4.1 software update is unable to fix the issue for all users. If you are still experiencing some problems with the proximity sensor then it is best to check out the jailbreak app CallLock.

CallLock is an application available in the Cydia App Store that locks the phone when there is an incoming or outgoing call. With your phone locked, it minimizes the possibility of hitting many buttons that may cause the trouble you are experiencing. After installing the jailbreak app from Cydia, you can select the mode from the Settings. Choose CallLock that can be accessed via Settings app. You can simply choose from Manual Mode to Automatic Mode.

In Manual Mode, CallLock will override the function of the Power button during a call to lock the screen instead of ending a call. In Automatic Mode, CallLock will automatically lock the phone as soon as there is an incoming or outgoing call. The manual mode is the default setting. This application is very useful for users who are still encountering proximity sensor issue.
